All About Organics

At Pinks Boutique we care as much about what we put on our skin as what we put in our mouths. The organic cosmetic industry is younger than the organic food industry, but its aim is the same: reducing the amount of chemicals in our bodies.

Beauty products can contain chemicals for many reasons – to give a longer shelf life, a brighter colour, a stronger fragrance or a foamier texture. But the result is that our bodies absorb a cocktail of chemicals every time we cleanse, bathe or moisturise. The growing concern about the effect these chemicals could have on our health has led to the development of the natural and organic beauty industries.

There are plenty of beauty products in the marketplace that call themselves natural or organic, but because there is still no legal definition of these terms, they may contain as little as 1% organic ingredients. Rather than take the path of least resistance as many organic companies do, Pinks Boutique’s products are certified by the British Soil Association – the UK’s leading certifier of organic products and processes, with the highest standards in this arena. The BSA stamp means our products have to contain at least 70% organic ingredients, and everything else in our pots must meet their strict safety standards.

We aim to be as clear as possible about all our ingredients, and if they aren’t organic, we always explain why. We ensure our Celebrated Spas are equipped with this information so they can deliver our treatments knowledgeably and improve the service they offer to clients.

Organic ranges do tend to be more expensive, but there are good reasons for this. Because we can’t include large amounts of water or synthetic fillers in our products, a little will always go a long way. And because they’re packed solely with active ingredients, a small amount of our organic product will achieve the same effect as a much larger amount of its non-organic alternative.
