THE BACKSTAGE SECRET Summer feet
By Kate Shapland
Far too much is expected of feet sometimes. Crammed into socks and boots all winter and expected to look fantastic the minute the weather warms up and sandals come out, it is no surprise that they invariably let us down. A lick of fresh varnish definitely improves the aesthetics, but skin needs attention too, especially around heels and toes. Use a foot file (very gently) or exfoliator to buff off dead skin on the underside of feet (the difference this simple chore makes is surprising), then massage plenty of balm in to soften skin. Foot treatments that work brilliantly include: Pinks Boutique Foot Scrub £15 (01332-204804); Kniepp Calendula Foot Soak Tablets £4.95 for six tablets (victoriahealth.com). Balm Balm Tea Tree Foot Balm £6 (lookfantastic.com).
